Section A Q1a: Post Production + Creativity

You should now have a working understanding of what is expected of you in the questions for Section 1a, you should also becoming more familiar with the types of examples you can use for each of the different sections.

Part 1:

You have 10 minutes to a full plan for this essay question:

Describe how you developed your skills in post production and evaluate how these skills contributed to creative decision making. Refer to a range of examples in your answer to show how these skills developed over time.

Use this plan to work out what example you will use in each paragraph.

You may want to use the below essay structure as suggested by OCR:

Paragraph 1: Should be an introduction which explains which projects you did. It can be quite short.
Paragraph 2: Should pick up the skill area and perhaps suggest something about your starting point with it- what skills did you have already and how were these illustrated. Use a detailed example.
Paragraph 3: Should talk through your use of that skill in early projects and what you learned and developed through these. Again there should be detailed examples to support all that you say.
Paragraph 4: Should go on to demonstrate how the skill developed in later projects, again backed by detailed examples, and reflecting back on how this represents a move forward for you from your earlier position.
Paragraph 5: Short conclusion
This plan does not need to be incredibly detailed, it does however need to be specific. Re-wording the above structure will not help you plan out the answer for this question.

You should have a specific point you want to talk about in each paragraph, this point should be detailed in your plan. You might also include a brief note of the example you are going to use to back up this point.

Part 2:

You have 30 minutes to write at least 3 PEE paragraphs for the above question.

Use your notes to make sure your paragraphs are specific and focused.

You might want to structure your paragraphs using the below structure:

P: Point.
Use this section to state the area you will be focusing on, for example the specific area of post production you will be focusing on in this point. This section can be fairly short, maybe just a sentence or 2.

E: Evidence/Example
Use this section to go into more detail about the specific area of post production. Pick a specific example from 1 of your coursework pieces that demonstrates your skill in this area and look at it in detail.

E: Explanation
Use this section to explain your example and link it back to the question, for example how this example and post production skill contributed to your creative decision making.

Part 3:

You now have 30 minutes to write your answer to this question, you may use the plan you have created but NOT the PEE paragraphs or your notes.

Remember to be specific and detailed. You must also refer to both your AS and A2 coursework. 

Keep an eye on your time and ensure you keep your answer concise, you don't have time to ramble.
